Café Brûlot means "burnt brandy," and it is the exquisite cocktailsignature after dinner drink that was created at Antoine’s Restaurant, the oldest family run resturant in the United States since 1840. Cafe Brulot was created by Jules Alciatore, son of the restaurant’s founder Antoine Alciatore in 1890. The cocktail is served in a theaterical fashion at old line Creole restaurants where locals and visitors partake in dining experiences as cultural as they are culinary.Most preparations call for an orange peel cut precisely as one long, intact spiral; a lemon peel cut into strips; sugar, cloves and cinnamon; cognac or brandy and hot, strong black coffee. Most importantly, the drink requires fire. Like the cocktail, our jelly is aromatically filled with citrus and cinnamon and can be enjoyed in a variety of ways.
