Taking inspiration from Diana Galdabon's Novels, "A Breath of Snow and Ashes", the sixth book and "Written in My Own Hearts Blood", the eiigth  book in the Outlander Series, we present to you "Cherry Bounce Jelly".

Traditionally, Cherry Bounce is a cordial made by infusing brandy with cherries and sugar. Some modern  recipes will use rum, whiskey or vodka instead of brandy.The English hamlet of Frithsden claims to have originated the Cherry Bounce. The earliest reference for Cherry Bounce dates to 1693 and is found in W. Robertson Phraseologia Generalis (new ed.) 369, where it is referred to as a "mingled [mixed] drink" called "cherrybouncer."


The liqueur, which is popular in parts of the United States, also has a long history, with a recipe for it  being found among the papers of Martha Washington.  It is said to have been one of George Washington's favorite drinks.In September of 1784,  Washington packed a “canteen” of Cherry Bounce, along with Madeira and port, for a trip west across the Allegheny Mountains. Imagine that!
